Math Kangaroo Competition 2024-25
Mathematical Kangaroo (also known as International Mathematical Kangaroo, or Kangourou sans frontieres in French) is an international mathematical competition held across 92 countries in the world. There are twelve levels of participation, ranging from grade 1 to grade 12. The key competence tested by Mathematical Kangaroo is not just pure knowledge of formulas, but the logical combination of concepts.
Kangourou sans Frontières is formed by maths lovers from all over the world. Motivated by the importance of mathematics in the modern world, their passion is to spread the joy of mathematics, support mathematical education in school and promote a positive perception of mathematics in society. The main activity of Kangourou sans Frontières is designing the annual Kangaroo Mathematics Competition. Mathematical problems in the multiple-choice form are offered to children of all school levels. The questions are not standard textbook problems and come from a large variety of topics. Besides inspiring ideas, perseverance and creativity, they require imagination, basic computational skills, logical thinking and other problem solving strategies. Often there are small stories, surprising questions and results, which encourage discussions with friends and family. The organisation of the competition in the individual countries is up to the members of Kangourou sans Frontières.
- This is a 90-minute exam. For Grades 5 to 12, there will be 30 questions worth 120 points, and for Grades 1 to 4, there will be 24 questions worth 96 points. Each question contains five MCQ-based options.
- Individually registered students can only take the online exam, & Schools interested in participating in the Mathematical Kangaroo Competition can apply through both offline and online mode.
- For participants who registered offline, the contest will be conducted by the designated contact person at the student’s school.
- They will be given an answer sheet (OMR Sheet) to write their response on. They can use a blank sheet for calculation and, after the exam, it must be handed back to the proctor or invigilator.
- Pre Ecolier-1 and Pre Ecolier-2 students will take the same test paper but will be ranked separately. Same applies for Ecolier-1 & 2; Benjamin-1 & 2; Cadet- 1&2; Junior-1 & 2 and Student-1 & 2.
- 1 point will be deducted for each incorrect answer, and no penalty for skipping a question.
- During the exam, pencils, pens, erasers, rulers, and other geometrical instruments are allowed.
- Instruments or gadgets like calculators, smart watches, etc. are strictly prohibited.
- The first-round perfect scorer will appear in the Final round of competition.
- Gold medals will be awarded to the top 5% of competitors; silver medals will be awarded to the next top 10% of competitors, and bronze medals will be awarded to the next top 10% of competitors. All medalists will be presented with merit certificates. Others will receive a participation or appreciation certificate.
- Only an e-certificate will be given for appreciation and participation.
- In the final round of competition, the first-round perfect scorer will compete. Students who score higher than 95% in the final round will receive a Perfect Score Award, a Gold Medal, and $100 in cash.

Olympiad India is an Authorised Business Associate with the International Olympiad Academy to promote the Math Kangaroo and International Science Olympiad in Maharashtra, Goa, and Eastern UP.
