American Mathematics Olympiad 2024
American Math Olympiad (AMO) is an international math competition for elementary, middle and high school students jointly organised by SIMCC and Southern Illinois University (SIU). It promotes the importance and a deeper understanding of math. AMO is open to all Grade 2 to 12 students and its framework is based on The US Common Core Standards. A group of the best educators from Southern Illinois University with comprehensive knowledge and experience in the Common Core Math curriculum design unique papers to challenge the student and at the same time promote their interest in math. Some of the distinguished benefits (or The key benefits) of AMO are university scholarships, Global Scholars Program, International Junior Honor Society (IJHS) membership, tuition grants and internships.
AMO is open to all Primary 2 to 6, Secondary 1 to 4 students and Junior College 1 to 2 (Grade 1 to 11/12 (JC) students from International schools). The duration of the test is 90 minutes for all grades. Each level has a differentiated paper and contains 25 questions within 2 sections:
Section A: 15 Multiple Choice Questions (3 points for each correct answer; no penalty for wrong answers)
Section B: 5 Non-routine Questions (5 points for each correct answer; no penalty for wrong answers)
Section C: 5 Non-routine Questions (6 points for each correct answer; no penalty for wrong answer)
Total: 100 points

All the participants will receive a Certificate.
The top 40% of the participants will receive an award certificate and a medal (Gold for top 8%, Silver for next 12% and Bronze for next 20%).
